Fire

 

It was nothing new.

Her husband had tried to burn her on fire before.

This time he lit their home on fire.

Her children, they survived.

She can’t take that chance.

She didn’t give him a chance.

Fire could be an ally.

 

Sixteen years later, her darker self emerged from the prison.

When her children didn’t come to meet her, she self-immolated, like some Buddhist.
